Where Reading is fun!
Where Disaster Strikes!
No, the classroom is not a disaster! That is the unit we are starting in the rBook. Have your child explain what the rBook is.
In "Where Disaster Strikes" the readers discover how the fury of natural disaster impacts people's, and animals', lives. One of the readings tells how Justin Norris is struck by lightning. Another reading tells of a forest fire at Storm King Mountain in Colorado. The emphasis while reading is the sequence of events. The goal is to show that sequence is key to understanding. Using connecting words makes it easier to comprehend the stories.
Fortunately, there is no homework in this class. However, no matter how old your child is, reading with him/her is so important. Each of my students received a list of books that are at their reading level. Go to the library and get one. If you can't do this, have your child get one of the books from the library at Pinewood. If I have the book, they are more than welcome to borrow it from me.
If you want a conversation starter, ask your child about rescuing the Rhino. You will enjoy the conversation!
If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 455-1224 ex. 33703. I will call you as soon as possible.
